2001: A Space Odyssey is a bad movie. It's undoubtedly gorgeous, technically incredible, and influential... but it has zero connective tissue between its four acts, stone dead writing, meandering pacing (even by the standards of it's time), and an absolutely impenetrable ending. So many aspects of it are just actively bad that I don't think it deserves it's great movie status.
