the guys I'm friendly with on a surface level just to kinda be personable will say some shockingly homophobic and misogynistic things if you listen to them talk long enough

One of the biggest reasons I quit my job in a male-dominated trade was the casual racism and sexism that they would drop like it was normal. Like we'd just be talking about whatever random bullshit we were on and they'd just spew some racist bullshit and continue on like nothing. I was cordial with the guys there but I still happily took a massive pay cut to work in a less male dominated workplace
