The pro-palestine protests have been a beacon of light for me lately (and China doing forest restoration). What is keeping your hope alive?

Remember this is bloomer thread so try to keep the dark irony to a minimum

The credibility and capability of the United States to dictate world policy seems to be fading rapidly.

Even just a couple years ago before the Ukraine War kicked up a notch, there was this sheen of mystique around NATO militaries in general and the US military in particular. At least to me growing up, there was always the sense of "If the US really pulled out all the stops, they could do untold damage to any enemy, like nothing we've seen before, since all our wars these days are special ops shadow wars."

Turns out that lol, nope. It's cathartic as someone who grew up with dim childhood memories of the disgusting cultural gloating that followed our pillaging of Iraq to see so many of the myths of western military supremacy dash themselves against Russian minefields these last couple years.

Yeah this is such a good point and it feels like something very significant that the U.S. political establishment is totally in denial over, at least publicly.

Growing up through the Iraq war and the lies that the U.S. made into political “truths” in order to get the world on board, I would never have thought we would see so many deep cracks forming in the global hegemony of the Empire.

Echoing what shimmering Koi said, even a couple years ago before the war in Ukraine it was hard to believe that the U.S. would become so dottering and impotent as a world leader but here we are! Let’s go Brandon!
