The pro-palestine protests have been a beacon of light for me lately (and China doing forest restoration). What is keeping your hope alive?

Remember this is bloomer thread so try to keep the dark irony to a minimum

Not only do the anticommunist liberals have no understanding of us, the leaked group chat story that's been doing the rounds show that the fascists are even more confused and idiotic about what's going on. We seem to be the only political faction inside the empire who makes any effort to know our enemies.

This is one of the funnier aspects of left-punching liberals. They like to call people Tankies or extremists or whatever as if the fash aren't going to call those libs "Marxists" and summarily execute them for "communism".

Erik Prince made a group chat with like 700 jetski dealers, mercenaries, internet nazis and Kurt Schlicter-esque retired military culture warrior types that recently got leaked. I don't have a specific article or anything, but they talk about it on the newest trillbillies and chapo

WhatsApp... Naturally... You want to imagine that these people are collaborating through highly sophisticated means of communication, but it's simply not true. These are the same people who ask you how to save a PDF. The plans for modern fascism were saved in the downloads folder the whole time.

I almost said the same thing and I try not to be over optimistic on this point because being stupid does not mean they can’t be vicious or repressive given the right political positioning but with that said I really do have hard time believing that the brownshirts of old were this deeply mystified.

It really does feel like they are high on their own supply and the American states increasing inability to manage its own best interest, regardless of party, really feels like proof positive of this.

Not to mention how fractious and ideologically inconsistent they are. Who would have guessed that when a society privileges ignorance and individualism; you end up with a bunch of privileged and ignorant individuals who are unable to co-ordinate without constantly scamming each other!

Even just a couple years ago before the Ukraine War kicked up a notch, there was this sheen of mystique around NATO militaries in general and the US military in particular. At least to me growing up, there was always the sense of "If the US really pulled out all the stops, they could do untold damage to any enemy, like nothing we've seen before, since all our wars these days are special ops shadow wars."

Turns out that lol, nope. It's cathartic as someone who grew up with dim childhood memories of the disgusting cultural gloating that followed our pillaging of Iraq to see so many of the myths of western military supremacy dash themselves against Russian minefields these last couple years.

Yeah this is such a good point and it feels like something very significant that the U.S. political establishment is totally in denial over, at least publicly.

Growing up through the Iraq war and the lies that the U.S. made into political “truths” in order to get the world on board, I would never have thought we would see so many deep cracks forming in the global hegemony of the Empire.

Echoing what shimmering Koi said, even a couple years ago before the war in Ukraine it was hard to believe that the U.S. would become so dottering and impotent as a world leader but here we are! Let’s go Brandon!

I don’t think class consciousness has grown this much and at this rate in the U.S. for a very long time. It’s no substitute for organization or a party but it sure feels consequential.

My kids really do recharge my batteries. I always do a "big hug" with my oldest (3 1/2) before we get into bedtime stories, we count to 20 and then flop on the bed. Last night, she started giving me silly smooches every other number. It was funny, it tickled, so I couldn't help but laugh, which only made her laugh more. Just a pure moment of joy at the end of the night.

Not to be even more cliché, but it really do be like this sometimes:

On a global scale, China's peaceful rise (and monumental climate efforts you already mentioned). They try to paint China as an aggressor in so many cases and goad them into conflict, but they've been able to keep steady relations in the sino-sphere. Watching vox pops from people in Taiwan saying they don't want to fight to maintain their 'lauded' status as the US unsinkable aircraft carrier in East Asia.

Seeing Ryukyu (Okinawan) students singing Chinese resistance songs and protesting the US occupation of their islands. Seeing the Serbian reception to Xi Jinping's visit, and the reception that some Chinese streamers had in Syria and of this Iraqi food vlogger called 老王 in China makes me hopeful that it's just the Anglosphere which is poisoned against China but that shit doesn't stick.

On an interpersonal level, seeing my brother's kids grow up happy and healthy with enthusiasm for the world, brimming with silly energy and wonder for simple things like learning how to dribble a soccer ball or learning about animals.

Republicans openly admitting that the US is not a democracy demonstrates that the American civic religion is in decline.

My local small right leaning town has some good people in government positions, and we're getting some pretty nice infrastructure improvements like protected bike lanes and roundabouts

The local insane litterbox conspiracy theorist got kicked off the school board.

Grocery prices are down a lot

After years of looking with no success I just randomly connected with two local lefties in two unconnected events this week what? And they're both just down the road from me.

The fact that the inevitable processes of history spell disaster for capital. The tendency for the rate of profit to fall, inter-imperialist conflict, etc etc.

Obviously climate change means that just because capitalism will come to an end doesn't mean that the ravages of exploitation and conflict will too, but I think that there's definitely enough resources in the planet that, under socialism, even climate catastrophe can't stop a functioning and free future.

Solar panels are getting so cheap that even capitalist countries will switch to green energy, and I'm pretty sure the Chinese government is doing this on purpose, so it will only accelerate.

I had a frustrating conversation with my grandfather this week where he, a usually progressive guy, had a list of talking points about why green energy is bad that he picked up from the propane delivery guy 🙄

When it's dark solar panels don't generate any energy and batteries are expensive/environmentally unfriendly

What is even the point of bringing that up if you aren't generating more than you use during daylight hours in the first place? When most of the demand is, mind?

At least with him opinions are as easy to plant as they are to dislodge

When you're out of gas, propane generators don't generate any energy.
