Most common wasp variant over here. In fact I almost never see any others except for like once every few years having to run from hornets as large as dragonflies.
Not that I'm taking the time to figure out measurements from the photo, but the critter looked a bit bigger to me than .5 of an inch for the yellow jackets.
Do wasps in France look like hornets or is that just me?
Also, European hornets are both scary looking and surprisingly super chill for an invasive species.
