    They were so cute. Most kids in my school were tamagotchi heads, a few other kids had digimon. It's funny because I didn't learn until recently that tamagotchi was marketed towards girls with digimon for boys. All the boys in my middle school loved the tama.

      Exactly. They used to be way more gender neutral. Now they lean heavy into marketing for "girls" and I think that holds them back.

      I mean, I have nothing against people who like the princess aesthetic, but that's narrowing your market down to a very specific type of girl (a lot of girls don't even like it) and seems like an odd choice from a business point of view.

        Yeah the lore behind the tamagotchi was that it was an alien you were raising. Then it started to get all sparkles and princessey like you said.
