I legitimately think the average USAan would implode from a combination of rage-induced constipation and constipation-induced rage if an actual Communist made it anywhere near the levers of power
They control the media though, can't win the class war by changing the language because just as much as they can make people afraid of the word communism (for fucks sake it means etymologically to live in communion together) they can make people afraid of any word. Don't let the right change our language.
Disagree on that, becoming a Communist requires untangling the Bootstrap narrative and the myth of meritocracy. One can logically be led to Communism, but without debunking the ideological aspects of liberalism the conclusion doesn't connect.
I don't think the average American would even be able to quantify an actual communist politician. The political metric of the average person in response to politicians is idiosyncratic and largely determined by stuff on TV.
Americans don't care about policy or if it actually gets implemented. They care about what the TV shows and they get mad if they see a black person. That's it. A communist would only register to them as a Democrat or a Republican depending on which one they hate the most.
I've been a self identified communist for over 20 years and the usual response is either confusion, vague curiosity, or they identify me as liberal and/or conservative based on which Facebook memes they just saw.

They wouldn’t recognize an actual communist and agree with all of their positions as long as you didn’t call it communism.

it's a surprise tool that will help us later
Future communist presidential candidate hiding their 100000 power levels:’pfff they say the same tired nonsense every time, how am IIIII a communist?’
