Plenty among the Tuareg musicians (who live in the deserts of Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Libya). Some of them are part freedom fighters, part musicians.

They're certainly cool, but I only see one left-handed player.
I've also known left-handed players who had to learn upside-down and then eventually switched to playing with their strings arranged normally.
Not all of them are left handed, just an unusually higher proportion than normal.
