I was about to make a joke in the high altitude spontaneous homosexuality thread. I was going to say something like "It's true. Once I moved to the mountain states I developed a craving for gladiator movies."
And then I stopped for a beat, thought about where that joke, the "Do you like movies about gladiators?" joke, came from. It's a bit from Airplane! where the pilot is implied to be a pedophile by extremely inappropriate questions he asks a kid visiting the cockpit. And this is from way back, so I'm assuming that in the context of the day it was tied in to the the slander that gay men are pedophiles. So, this random joke that's just floating around in my brain? It seems relevant, it's pleasantly absurd to suit the absurd subject, it's... wait. wait. Fuck. It's about pedophilia.
if you grew up in the 80s, 90s, 00s, so many culturally relevant jokes are like this. I get half way through telling it and actually think about the context and meaning of the joke for the first time in years and it's like oh. oh no. oh no.
Fuck it's just frustrating. This shit was planted so deep inside me that I keep finding bits of it under the couches and loveseats of my soul.
I think the Abrahams Brothers turned out to be massive CHUDS
