    Friendly reminder that the only parties friendly to the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft and their proposed policies were the KPD and SPD, and that the Institut occasionally housed members of the Comintern. Socialists have been at the forefront of queer rights since the beginning. And even though the state socialist experiments of the 20th century largely fumbled the ball when it came to queer rights, the GDR got it right in their final years, only to have it all completely undone by the successor to Nazi Germany FRG. Queer Germans have still not regained the rights they lost when the FRG annexed the GDR over three decades ago.

        Yes! Sorry for the omission. It kills me that their reforms happened after the socialist bloc fell. Cuba's and the GDR's reforms would have likely promulgated throughout the socialist world given enough time and would have been a counterbalance to the false association of queer liberation with liberal "democracy."
