Peter Watts' incredibly blackpilled blog is what completely changed my mind on the urgency of climate change. By his own standard, even if it's all overblown doompilling, the alternative is even worse. His outlook of deliberately making downer fiction with awful endings about very real issues down the line is designed to make you scared and angry in an effort to get people to act instead of feeling good about a miracle happening in future. It's very subversive in its method.
