So I recently graduated college, and thus my free access to the Adobe suite I had through the school is no more. However, I do a decent bit of video editing, so it would be really great if I could "re-obtain" Premiere Pro, without having to pay for adobe's stupid over priced subscription bs.

However, my knowledge of acquiring otherwise paid material online for free pretty much starts and stops at sketchy sites for streaming movies/shows. So how would one, like myself, go about getting Premiere Pro, pro-bono, without either giving my laptop a terminal disease or my internet provider sending me death threats ?

    Download and install Qbittorrent

Get a vpn, check out privacytools.io for a list. One outside of 14 eyes countries that are likely to turn the data over to the us/your country (assuming you’re in the 14 eyes) is ideal. (This one depends on your country some are worse about this than others. Tbh sometimes I file share w/o a vpn but it’s always better to be safe than sorry)

Go to 1337x.to and search for premiere pro. Download the most recent one with the most seeds. If you have qbittorrent installed it click the magnet link and it will automatically set up the torrent

(Also use Firefox and install ublock origin to avoid all the sketchy ads and stuff that torrent sites tend to have)

As far as installing it goes, each torrent should have instructions on how it works. Sometimes it requires copying a file over sometimes the software is precracked meaning you just have to install it normally and it’s already set up to go. I have premiere on my computer and I think that’s how mine was.

Also for the avoidance of doubt if the software you torrent tries to make any outbound connections, your firewall will notify you, just cancel it and don’t let it.

I did everything with getting a vpn and Qbittorrent, but now with multiple torrents of Premiere (for mac) I've downloaded, when I go to open the file, it brings me to a window with an adobe creative cloud icon and a folder labeled "extras."

When I click the adobe icon, it brings up another window that has the icon, with a button bellow it that says "patch or drag", and when I push that button, it loads, says "completed" but then doesn't do anything. I can't find any instructions on how to actually open Premiere now that it's downloaded, and I'm totally lost. Again, this exact thing has happened despite trying multiple versions of Premiere for Mac from the site you suggested

Looking at the comments on the most recent Mac version it seems broken installers is a common issue for Mac with premiere. I’m on Windows so it’s a bit different

            One user left these instructions:

HOW TO INSTALL Adobe Premiere CC 2019 v13.0.1:

            1. Open TERMINAL and enter 'sudo spctl --master-disable' without the quotes
            2. Leave TERMINAL open
            3. Mount Adobe_Premiere_CC_2019_v13.0.1__TNT_.dmg by double clicking it
            4. A window called 'Adobe Premiere CC 2019 v13.0.1' should appear, DO NOT CLOSE IT.
            5. Click on 'Extra'
            6. Mount APP13.0.1.dmg but DO NOT LEFT-CLICK the file 'Install'
            7. Instead, RIGHT-CLICK 'Install' and click 'Show package contents'
            8. Click on 'Contents' > 'MacOS' > 'Install'
            9. Installation should proceed. After installation, Adobe Premiere will try to open. FORCE QUIT IT IMMEDIATELY.
            10. Go back to the window 'Adobe Premiere CC 2019 v13.0.1' and click 'Adobe Zii Ai-Ic-iD-Pl-Pr-Ps'
            11. Click on 'PATCH OR DRAG'
            12. Software will attempt to patch Adobe Premiere
            13. If patching fails, proceed with 'Patch as root'
            14. Patching should complete

A few other users noted before this comment that they were able to get it to run installing from terminal.

It's not working. I feel like the issue comes around step 9, as nothing actually installs, all I get is the precursor screen to the install, where adobe wants my email/info to verify my account, which I obviously don't have, so I quit the installer, but then the "patch or drag" app doesn't seem to be able to do anything because nothing has been installed.

maybe I'm just too stupid to do it correctly, or maybe it's broken and won't even work that way anymore idk. I feel like you need a computer science degree to do this stuff correctly, and I like to consider myself someone fairly competent at figuring out computer issues and following directions on how to do things.

Hmm do you happen to have this particular version downloaded? 13.0.1?

Mac torrenting csn be sometimes a little trial snd error. I was on apple flr 10 years before just recently switching back.

Im assuming you did the show package contents bit in the app13.0.1.dmg? That seems to be the main way someone got it working.

Huh, I found a torrent of the program uploaded just a few days ago, and did everything it's instructions said and now it seems to have worked perfectly. I guess it was just a matter of finding one new enough that the install program was still working.

Regardless, thanks for all your help and advice. I've already figured out/learned a lot just from tonight, and now seem to have to program I was after. Thanks a ton! :fidel-salute:

Thanks for these alternatives, good to keep in mind. I might consider switching over to Da Vinci Resolve if I decide to try something new instead of Premiere, since I've heard good things about it
