If you're like me and you like a slimmer tab bar and you're willing to jump through a couple hoops you can still have it.
First you have to enable the browser.compactmode.show flag by putting about:config into your URL bar and pressing enter. Then you can search for the flag and click the little button with two opposing arrows on the right side, and the "false" should change to "true"
Now you have to relaunch your browser. Then you can find the "compact mode" option in the toolbar options page. You can get there by pressing and releasing the alt key (this will make a menu bar appear at the top) then click "view", hover "Toolbars" and click on "Customize Toolbar"
Finally the option will be in a dropdown box on the bottom left with the word "density"
Select "Compact mode" there
