I haven't owned a personal laptop since like 2013. I used a desktop PC at work for years until 2018. Since then I've had 3 different laptops. I am used to clicking the "shut down" button and idk, my computer shuts down. But with these laptops, it seems most of the time when I shut it down and close it up, it sorts looks like the power is off. But it's not. I'll open it up hours later and the screen just pops on. So sometimes I'll wait a bit before closing the top, and the same thing seems to happen a lot of the time. Am I just imagining this? Or is it user error? Or something about windows 10 laptops?
It's probably the fast start-up option with Windows 10, which for me was on by default. I turned it off because my laptop kept running out of memory. https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1045548/
"Windows 10, where shut down doesn't mean shut down"
"It's now safe to turn off your computer"
Sike
It's in hibernation
