I used to think that even though Apple's bad, at least they're okay on the privacy front. But what the fuck?
They wanna be able to detect every image I take for the possibility of it being "illegal"? Fuck you.
Is Ubuntu good? And LineageOS for phone?
Edit - At least r/apple seems to be against it If there's one positive thing I can say about reddit, it's that those nerds are usually all in on privacy stuff.
Yeah at this point the compatibility is achieved by sheer force of will in the open source community, not thanks to phone manufacturer’s cooperation, so you basically need to choose your hardware and carrier in the reverse direction. For example, I don’t think a single Verizon phone is compatible because they have to have their “special” radio bands and protocols
Edit: also someone here was complaining about how Sprint(?) was discontinuing service for certain Xiomi phones because they “lack the proper wireless band support” (they don’t). Ironically, Google phones are some of the most secure and private available with the right firmware
What's your opinion on Ubuntu Touch ? I've found quite a few options here .
Also, yeah, the open source community sounds rad as fuck.
I haven’t tried it myself but I’ve heard good things. Looks pretty. I know one person who uses it as a daily driver and she doesn’t complain about it any more than my other friends complain about their phones
FOSS, the thing that started the entire tech industry, is one of the few bastions of practical anarchist philosophy, and I love it.
