Yea unite kind of blows a lot of the time but they have had a fair few successes at least and I'd like to see leadership remain in a more leftist position after Len stands down.

Does any one know much about the 3 candidates for general secretary? I've read their bits of info one the unite site but in classic electoral fashion I don't really feel like I learned anything about them? Reading between the lines it seems like the choice would be between Steve Turner or Sharon Graham as Coyne seems sus.

So :hex which way should I :vote

Vote for Turner. He's the united left-slate candidate and has the best chance of beating Coyne. Coyne is a rightwing ghoul whose entire candidacy is lowkey based around the idea that the bosses should run the union not the workers (just look at who is endorsing him - The Sun, the Labour Right, etc. - to get a sense of who he is). Graham should have dropped out the race and endorsed Turner when Beckett withdrew so as to avoid further splitting the left vote, but it seems that her ego means more to her than what is good for the members.

Thanks for the breakdown, was leaning Turner from the small info provided online but good to know a little more about each of them. I really should get more involved with the union at work but tbh it seems a bit of a dead end here as the pay is over industry standard and they treat people reasonably well (both of these are because the union is strong still) so there isn't much to push for or people willing to bother.
