I remember when I was very young (don't actually remember I was like 2) when Katrina hit Florida and New Orleans and Bush left our people to starve and die, didn't rebuild shit and allocated like a few million at most for aid.

I don't know anything about that but I would not be surprised.

I was born in Florida and lived there until about 2, so I just remember my mom telling me about the absolutely dystopian situation that was the southern US during late 2005. She remembers driving with me in the carseat as her beater Ford Focus was floating down the road lmao and that there was really no help for the people there after.

I do recall also hearing something about people either killing themselves or the medical professionals just intentionally overdosing people on morphine because there was zero government assistance and it was the most humane thing to do (as opposed to letting them die of horrible infection, starvation, or whatever other injuries they sustained)

So I read up on it. Chris Kyle (American Sniper) claimed to have shot 30 or so "looters" from atop something called a superdome in New Orleans. But there is no evidence of this. He has lied about a lot of shit so he probably made this up too.

Didn't the police only just end up killing a bunch of people in Hawaii by stopping them from evacuating?

Not sure about the Hawaii situation, but wouldn't be surprised. "Stay calm everyone. We're not here to help but just stay calm and go to work, thanks"
