Former Singaporean diplomat criticizes American mainstream media (MSM) for their insular and parochial coverage, particularly regarding non-Western worlds.
Growing up in Saudi Arabia I had access to more international news and more varied viewpoints than people in the US.
Ever since satellite receivers went mainstream in the 1990s. Any household has access to news from: Iran, Russia, China, Britain, France, Germany, the Zionist occupation, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, UAE, …, and not just that but also news channels affiliated with Hamas, Hezbollah, Ansar Allah, and other groups and sects, and even US comedy news such as Fox News and Alhurra.
Re: that video - Turns out that script was a Sinclair Broadcasting Group mandated thing. They're complete assholes who constantly buy out smaller networks and use them to push a conservative agenda. Tend to severely cut down their acquisitions, too. They run just short of 193 stations nationwide. Their sort of monopolistic behavior is a huge part of the problem.
