Huh. I would have expected cars to kill a lot more people than guns do. By like an order of magnitude.
car have been getting safer for people inside them while gun deaths have been increasing so they are getting pretty close now
if you add in ped and bike deaths from cars, then it's def higher than guns by a good bit, and those deaths are increasing along with the gun deaths in the last decade-ish

traingang secret
:stalin-gun-1::train-shining: build HSR or else
It's wild how dangerous it is to drive or be around drivers. I'm sure it's how I will die some day. Some idiot eating soup while swiping on their phone will run me over in the bike "lane" and it won't even make the news
Car fetishists are fucking weird:
"Ugh, I can't ride public transportation! It's smelly and it's for poor people! I am MUCH TOO GOOD to associate myself with such lowly peasants. What if they attack me for no reason?"
"Wait, you're citing the fact that people are bad drivers as the reason for supporting public transportation? Get a load of the ELITIST! He thinks you're too stupid for your own good!"
Perfect Vox article, talks about car deaths and points out other countries have fewer of them, but then never mentions public transportation and talks about various wonkish ways to design the road different.
last week i saw the :the-pigs: blocking all three southbound lanes on my commute home, there was a powered wheelchair sitting in the middle of the road with some bloodstains on it, seemed to me someone had wiped out some disabled dude trying to cross the fucking street, it was pretty damn grim
This country hates disabled people. The driver probably fucking did on purpose
Love to have the freedom to die in a horrific and unnecessary accident
