I hate always online licensing DRM schemes
I bought Minecraft back when they made you make a Mojang account to download it - some years later I wanted to download it again but I didn't have my Mojang details, and Microsoft was all "uhh you should have connected your Mojang account to you Microsoft account idiot" like bruv I just want to make a dirt house, get bored, and then never play this again for ten more years.
Anyway I tried Minetest and it was pretty good.

so true
When did this get implemented? I'm guessing with the new non-Java version of the game?
This was in Microsoft's Minecraft launcher, so probably whenever that got introduced. I've only got the Java version though.
If you own Java Edition, you also own Bedrock Edition and vise versa.
Is that true? I thought if you had bought java before a certain point you automatically got bedrock when it launched, but it's still just one license?
Yep! If you owned either one before June 7th 2022, you got the other one automatically given to you. And if you didn't own either of them before that date and you buy from the official website you get both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

Its way easier to pirate the bedrock version of the game compared to the java version
I haven't played Minecraft since they got bought out by Microsoft. So I have no idea what's happening with it these days. I remember my friend recommended the game to me and I missed out on paying $5 for the Alpha version by like a week and got the Beta version for $10, I think (or maybe it was 10 and 15).
i miss the old minecraft.net :(
there was one multiplayer server on the java applet version that i used to play all the time; it was some sort of team based pvp
Get minetest. Once they start migrating all the mods over it's joever for minecraft.
