Maricoin: Here’s how the first LGBT+ cryptocurrency plans to change the world

Maricoin, the world’s first LGBT+ cryptocurrency, officially launched last Friday in a week-long pilot test in Chueca, an LGBT+ neighborhood in Madrid, Spain.

A play on words taken from a homophobic slur in Spanish, M^ricoin will also have its own LGBT-related language. For example, transfers between M^ricoin users are called “trans.”

    While it might sound like a marketing gimmick to some, Belmonte’s idea is no joke, as one research by Swiss bank Credit Suisse suggests that the LGBT+ market would actually rank as the world’s fourth-largest economy, just behind Japan and ahead of Germany when it comes to purchasing power.

      Is this implying the existence of a gay ethnostate

      Why on earth would lgbt people have their own separate currency, seems really inconvenient when living in majority straight countries (all of them, sadly)
