Would I have to drive there myself or could I pay an on-site tech to do it for a courtesy fee? Does it depend on the company?

remote hands are expensive but if you physically own the server and don't have any special deal with them on maintenance that'd be your option>

That's okay; I'm still here and still curious two months later! Thanks for the reply! I've now learned the term "remote hands".
In that case it sounds like renting is a better option unless the datacenter is within a reasonable driving distance.
