It goes without saying that there is no reflection on the current state of the world contained within this post, and while it encourages us all to share our concerns about events that are important to us, the page only links to report antisemitism. The implied message of course, is that if I do type a reply to insert my own thoughts about a cause I care about, this will be taken as anti-semitic attack and I will be reported and lose my job. Of course, the company I work for also had a two year long fundraiser for the war in Ukraine, and while I'm not going to name my own company, I know for a fact that this is the same for Nikon, where a similar fundraiser for Palestine has been shouted down as inappropriate and "political".

If they wanted my opinion on the genocide in Palestine (you are still not allowed to call it a genocide in the UK despite the ICJ case), they would do the bare minimum to set the tone, and they have chosen not to do that.

The last few Holocaust survivors are going to pass away soon. Just as how capitalism subsumes its own critique, it has absorbed and will continuing absorbing the Holocaust and trivialize it so that it can inflict it again (even currently against Palestinians). Your company is only doing this as a ritual in this process, so I wouldn't get too caught up on it. No one in your company actually cares about the holocaust, to do so would disrupt the decorum of capitalist life. Same way no one in your company is able to care about Ukraine outside of the established narrative.

The West is deeply serious in being deeply unserious.

    Does Big Brother exist?’

‘Of course he exists. The Party exists. Big Brother is the embodiment of the Party.’

‘Does he exist like you or me?’

‘You do not exist’, said O’Brien.
