    This cursed goddamn country

    Alright, best case scenario— it works. You are one with the AI. It gives you genius capabilities.

    End result, brain chips are the new college degree. If you want to work in anything besides retail or fast food you have to have the brain chip to compete. Now Elon Musk, or some other bloodless freak, has a brain chip in every person who is powerful/influential. They can kill you with a push of a button.

    Most likely scenario— a whole bunch of people get hurt or die for nothing.

    What exactly is the upside here? It’s like fucking bitcoin. At no point does anyone in our government just stop and think these things through. “What if this works?” should be the first thing we ask ourselves

      You forget people are very selfish and will eagerly join the Face Eating Leopards party, because surely they aren't the one whos face gets eaten. In their mind they are the one with the bestest brain chip outcompeting others without doing any work and all of the people they hate get killed with the push of a button. That reality doesn't work like that doesn't stop them.

      Another aspect may be if this gets developed in the US, surely the US citizens will be the first to have access to this new tech and have a leg up on the rest of the world. Imagine foreigners coming into your country and outcompeting because of their brain chips, TEY TUK UR JERBS! Again, that reality doesn't work like that doesn't stop them.

      They're looking for a way out to maintain the system. Right now, tech is not strong enough to allow the bourgeoisie to defeat the proletariat. They need to be able to neutralize massive numbers of people to prevent a revolution from ending class society. Autonomous weapons systems are the obvious move. Not sure how neuralink fits in, but these fuckers are just looking for leverage

    Hope whatever failure inevitably happen with it won't be such a horror case that it would stop cybernetic implant research in the future.
