I got to thinking about why I'm so into worldbuilding and creating worlds that make sense and I started to wonder if that had ties to my own upbringing.
Long story short, rules didn't apply consistently for me as a kid and I'm realizing I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the way things worked in my home. Sometimes something I did was acceptable, other times, it was like I did the worst thing ever. I kept trying to find some logic or consistency to the world around me, but it was never the same.
In my daydreams and imaginary worlds, I would put in a lot of energy to have things make sense. Sometimes this would be following what felt intuitive and as I got older, I started applying laws of physics too.
As an adult writer, I like making worlds that make sense and often I'll look at media I'm consuming and find ways that the worldbuilding could be more cohesive and/or consistent.
So I'm wondering if other folks here who like worldbuilding had similar backgrounds or if this was just my route to my passion for writing.
