I have a background in writing, trauma, and psychology. I also have a deep love of media that's varied and specific.
I think I could write some cool articles that would speak to people here and other places.
Here's an example pitch:
Why I love Final Fantasy X
"I loved that shit from the opening credits. It starts with an effeminate boy with parental issues, especially with his father, and how that boy goes on an adventure with a hot guy who was a better father figure. They work together to actively fight a patriarchal society and then the boy's dad too.
For fuck's sake, they go to a place where you can see the ghosts of loved ones. Sports were so warped in the society that centuries later, it is embedded in the society's religion.
He befriends a biracial girl who's able to hide her controversial identity and is only seen as useful insofar as her ability to save the world. If her dad didn't do that and if she didn't do that, she would have been probably left for dead. She's not even an adult yet and everyone is happily watching her go off to risk her life and save the world.
He then befriends an older brother figure who is projecting his own grief at losing a younger brother. A younger brother who was in a love triangle with a mysterious and reserved woman with her own tragic history.
There's a guy who was societally castrated and exiled, finding his only purpose in helping the biracial girl previously mentioned.
They're all willing to throw their lives away. And for what? The chance that things stop hurting for a little while. Not an end to pain or a solution. Just a break. For time to actually think and live their lives.
Until they meet the biracial girl's cousin. She's tired of watching people die. She doesn't want her cousin to die too. She actively fights every step of the way for a solution outside of the patriarchal society's religion. She has her own trauma and faces some of the worst, including losing her own home. But despite all that, she still has hope and the audacity to fight for it.
Along the way, they're faced with several different people processing trauma in their own way. There's a biracial man who's on the same journey to save the world, but he was actually mistreated and sought out being a hero to finally have that pain stop. But he became bitter and gave up on hope that things could change. Instead of seeking a break or a reprieve from the pain, let alone an end to that pain entirely, he seeks to end the world itself and all of the pain within."
Anyway, that's about the gist of an article I'm working on. Is it a good start? Can any of you think of a place where I can market something like this? Any help would be appreciated.
I'd also love to turn that into a video essay.
God I hope not.
But imagine how much more fun he'd be if he spent his energy doing leftist/queer rants on video games?
id watch that for sure
