Sigh, what a stupid system this is.
I know it's a website for bicycles, but it's kinda funny to me that there are adverts for multiple-thousand-dollar bicycles in an article about how there's a dumpster full of perfectly fine bicycles up for grabs in the alley behind target.
Most of those $1000+ are gonna be ebikes these days, which tend to serve a different market segment.

Supposedly some of it goes to that stores where they just have cloth hampers filled with damaged goods that people pay for by weight, but when I worked at Amazon basically anything that fell onto the floors and got scuffed by the robots was marked damaged and thrown in a big trash bin.
The amount of perfectly fine goods thrown out makes me more anti-capitalist than any other fact. Any system that incentivizes that is pure evil
