This is the fair and balanced type of reporting Germans fawn over their totally independent state media for.
Racist overtones aside, conquering foreign markets with their cars is the only thing that's kept West Germany relevant since the annexation of the DDR, and that's coming to an end.
I've heard BYD will introduce brand new, solid EVs that cost around 20-25k. Compare that to the average 40-50k new EV and I think my choice will be made quickly.
Funny how the free market enjoyers don't enjoy free markets all of a sudden when it's not their white company doing it.
You don't understand, Chyna is distorting world markets! (Actual quote by Hillary Clinton)
I bought a BYD Dolphin here recently and it will cost me around 3,600,000 JPY total (about 24,000 USD). I don't actually have it yet, but it was remarkably affordable compared to some of the other cars I had test driven.
I didn't get the long range version, which is a bit more, but for my needs it is absolutely perfect.
The Japanese govt is giving a 650k subsidy on an EV like the dolphin, which knocks that price down to a loaded up Corolla. The Japanese auto makers are going to be in serious trouble if they don't adapt.
pretty car, congrats
You won't need to drive much or far in Japan. Congrats on the car.
I am in a much more rural area so I do need to drive daily to work or around town.
Long distance I can take busses or trains, but we don't have any locally really.
