:reddit-logo:'s neighborhood boards are toxic, but one of the few useful things on that hellsite. There are a number of Chicago posters on this site and it would be nice to have a comm to organize and unite these :sicko-hexbear:

yes please. I hate /r/chicago so much it's unreal
This is how I feel about r/Seattle
I'm convinced all the city subs are hopelessly astroturfed. Then again, plenty of assholes in every city as well. It's mostly the crime stats with a conservative bent that get me. Too many anecdotal 'i got robbed on the L and now I think we need to hire blackwater or I'll move and take my tax dollars with me' posts.
I once met a guy on the L who said he wanted someone watching ALL the cameras, live, at all times. I didn't even know what to say. Panopticon enjoyer
But the city subs are filled with suburban conservative power users. Other than like WP_GRID, who probably does live nearby, a lot of the conservative accounts are also very active on /r/Seattle, /r/Portland, /r/Philadephia, etc.
It would be fascinating to watch L camera feeds all day but the job wouldn't be worth it if they wanted you to rat out people riding it around for the air conditioning or asking people for money.
Yeah that doesn't surprise me about the city subs. Just feels off to me.
