You think turf grass is bad? In the Netherlands roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of every suburban garden is either completely paved over or is covered with PLASTIC lawns!
I did not know this and it's profoundly disappointing since that's a good place to immigrate to as a horticulturist. Somehow it's even more obnoxious than American lawns.
