There seems to be no evidence presented that any AI was used, only speculation and rumors. Perhaps it was just a regular old shitshow.
I don't think it's too much of a leap to go from using AI generated images to advertise it to using AI to generate scripts. Just looking at the premise of one of his books made me go "Oh, this is essentially Carl Sagan's Contact" and the one review says that "The sun sets slowly over the horizon" 15 times in 61 pages, which tracks with my experience of how AI says essentially the same thing over and over as filler.
