Sorry man, no hard feelings! Just thought I get it out there before others bombard you with that, there's a bit of anti Chrome sentiment out there now and I am not sure Chromium is seen much different.
Yeah, I use Firefox as the main browser, but that's beside the point. I can choose what browser to use myself and lemmy comments not gonna change that in any way.
It always had those dependencies, they're part of the base desktop system. It's just that the Chromium package from the unstable branch depends on packages from the unstable branch. The unstable versions got updated so they are no longer the same as the stable packages, and apt has to uninstall the stable versions of them to install the new unstable versions.
An alternative is to install stuff like this inside a Docker container so that your main system isn't overrun with issues like this.
I run pretty much all my applications like that, mounting only a volume with data that is relevant to the application, shielding all other data from unintended exposure.
Seems like overkill. The last time I tried it, I had so many problems, like sound not working, wrong cursor theme or not following system dark theme, etc. I guess if I wanted to go in that direction I would just install flatpak, but I don't want to do that for the same reason. It's not as good as a native application.
