Tiny refillable perfume bottle so I don't have to bring a big glass bottle when travelling
Steamer with 3 baskets that can be stacked. Never had vegetables taste better and making rice is fire and forget.
Not new, but I use my electric blanket as a foot-warmer all winter long. It is more properly a 'throw' since it isn't big enough to be a blanket. Using it now. I can keep the heat lower as long as my feet are toasty.
Sound Cancelling headphones, one of the best buys in my life, as an autistic person it really helps a lot, for going about the day to day.
Computer Engineering For Big Babies
I love objects that teach and are fun to play with :)
A P1 sensor. I have recently entered the rabbit hole of home automation. One of the things I care about, is to be as private as possible, so I went for Home Assistant.
A P1 sensor is a small thingumabob that you plug into your electricity meter and it measures electricity and natural gas use. It comes with its own webserver and it integrates seamlessly into my HA energy dashboard. I did not have to subscribe to any cloud service and as far as I can tell, it does not phone home.
Ohhhh that's been on my radar ever since I saw James Hoffmann playing around with it. I'm about to move abroad so it would be unnecessary ballast, but once I've settled in, that's on the to-do list.
How steep is the learning curve to get the workflow & output consistent?
The learning curve is a bit steep, but for me it’s part of the fun. You control all the variables, which kind of forces you to learn about the whole espresso making process. Once you got the workflow down it’s not too bad.
Don’t get it if you expect a quick cup of espresso in the morning. Do get it if you like to fiddle with things and want go the extra mile to get the most out of your espresso.
Oh sure, it wouldn't me my daily driver I guess, at least not the one for the first shot. But I've already got a decent espresso machine for that (plus 7 other coffee making contraptions), so the flair would be for the second and third short during the day. And a nice showpiece for sure.
I got a touch-pump soap dispenser for my kitchen. Just put the the sponge on the device, push down, and now you got a soapy sponge. Saves time but I'm old so ymmv.
Wool ball filled cushion pads. They're really plump, and just the right level of firmness, so much nicer than synthetic or feather. Each pay day I'm ordering a couple, and gradually my sofa is turning into a cosy nest.
