Eating meat is bad, but from a socioeconomic standpoint it is currently necessary for many people. It is lamentable that our food supply chain is so heavily invested in cheap meat.
Not just because it is immoral, but also because that supply chain is going to collapse soon.
Eating meat because it may be unavailable in the future is an... interesting reason. To me, that sounds like a reason to transition away from it. There are very real nutritional reasons why eating meat would feel good, but none that can't be achieved with legumes and vegetables.
This gets into the recent Kurzgesagt subject, of how we feel special enough to be at The End, so we continue to make the world worse while disregarding posterity. But, everyone for all of history thought they were special enough to be at The End. Statistically, all the humans who have ever lived make up less than 1% of how many humans will live.
I get it. If it helps, the amount of water you're using isn't that much compared to, like... golf courses. At the same time, we should all try to make the future better for everyone, when we have the capacity.
