Most comments are good but the ones moaning about being outsourced if they unionise don't seem to realise they'd get outsourced anyway. Everywhere I know of more and more firms are outsourcing to china and india union or not.
yeah outsourcing is over 20 years old and i'm sure most of those workers weren't unionized
There was a school district in my state that outsourced their IT Dept to a local managed service provider recently, and I know of several districts that do the same outsourcing. Doesn't have to be from China or India. The lack of unionization in the private sector IT space ultimately is a boon for the public sector as well. I work in K12 IT and in our state the districts can be so small that sometimes you have an IT Department of one employee. Typically, the unions in the districts are siloed into "Licensed Teachers","Paraprofessionals","Facility Workers". Where I'm at, I've been told we are in the "singleton" bargaining group with the office staff, which is just a fancy way of saying "non-union".
