On one hand, these new Ghostbusters movies are awful dreck, bilge, literal child poison
On the other, I can go play Helldivers instead of being a prick about it
i haven't seen the new one, because i wait until things are free + not a CAM, but i saw one of the criticisms was that it had a "too serious" tone. which told me i'm going to like it, probably. the ghostbusters movies are obviously action comedies, but i love the insane lore.
- all the references to Tobin's Spirit Guide
- "I think that was the old New York Central City of Albany! Derailed in 1920! Killed hundreds of people! Did you catch the number on the locomotive?"
- Viggo The Cruel
- Ivo Shandor made a skyscraper apartment building at Central Park West using steel girders with selenium, which is used by NASA to make antennas for listening to dead stars in deep space.
as much as i like movies that are fully absurd/surreal, i really appreciate fantasy movies that take their in-universe lore completely seriously and pepper the narrative with bizzare details that seem too weird and specific to be made up. build the world, make it real, raise the stakes to the highest levels of existential crisis, and then break the tension with some jokes while the hero(es) wing a solve at the last minute. i love that formula. favorite slop flavor.

No, he just shows up so the crowd can go "A thing I know!" and then clap
They just keep trying with this franchise and pissing off more and more people lol
It's honestly baffling how out of touch they are with the franchise
It's supposed to be funny, weird and kind of spooky
These new movies are just nostaliga-fueled pablum
Basically just
Show
they should put that booba lady everybody likes in a blue wig and make an extreme ghostbusters movie
