"Should we maybe just have a knob on the blinker switch?"

"No. This will be epically more based." billionaire-tears snorts a fat bump of K

Glad they finally innovated taking .1 seconds to flip a switch into staing at a screen for 10 seconds. Truly worth 100k dollars.

I love software that secretary adds shit without me knowing. Makes me feel safe and in control.

Isn't Elon so innovative? After the last software update, you can turn on heated seats without paying a subscription for it! They also added Tetris to the touchscreen games.

TIL. It's not a common term here. We call the trunk the boot, and front storage is exceedingly rare so that I've never encountered a car with it. I guess frunk will catch on in the absence of a 'froot'

Yeah, front storage went away for a while when air cooling faded away and rear-engined cars became exclusively rich guy sportscars. Now that EVs are becoming more common, most of them have a little storage compartment under the hood or bonnet, so frunk is becoming a more popular term again.

I think tailgate is still the correct term even where the rear storage is the boot, but I've heard it more colloquially called a "boot lid"

Ah yeah see, without learning the word frunk I would have said bonnet storage or just bonnet, then I read your other comment saying that the bonnet is the metal flap, so that's another TIL!

Tailgate in Australia means to drive up someone's arse/not keep the safe distance between you and the driver in front, I'm guessing deriving from that they're on your tailgate. Interesting stuff, thanks.

Yep! North Americans also call driving too close (and partying out of the back of ones car as one might pregame outside a sporting event) tailgating for the same reason: proximity to the vehicle's tailgate.

I reckon you'd still call it a boot, I don't see why the name has to change because it's in a different spot on the car

This is really shit design. The whole reason that the flood light are on a knob is so you can easily turn it off when there is a car approaching you.

Flood lights/highbeams are different than fog lights. Fog lights point down and a bit out for visibility around the front of your car. You don't need to toggle those for oncoming traffic.

Teslas are one of the most infuriating cars I’ve had the displeasure of driving. Literally everything was in the middle console. You have to take your eyes off the road then to the middle of the car losing any kind of peripheral vision of the front.

Not only that but you have to go through like 10 different menus to turn some bullshit on.

The only thing worse than this is the Ford trucks that have the same features, except the dashboard is still normal. But everything else? Want to turn on the AC? Better fiddle with a fucking 5 FPS computer screen while driving at 60 MPH in a suburban tank.

Third one is like a normal high beams symbol, but yeah what are those other two?
