It's going to be interesting to see how US responds. I personally didn't think Iran would escalate this way, but looks like they've decided to make a point.
That Iranian "attack" was so slow and gave so much room of manouver to Israel that I believe was done to save the face of the government to it's population.
And Israel can also claim superiority and feel it doesn't have to retaliate. Better than an escalation.
Another perspective would be that Iran used this so force Israel to reveal it's de defense positions and have to chance them at a very high cost:
Yeah, it was calculated to make a point and try not to escalate too much. But the question is whether US wants to use this as an excuse to start a war. Neocons have been salivating for a war with Iran for a long time.
