Probably a paradoxical effect. Most drugs can, rarely, just have the opposite effect. Some people will have a drug 'usually' give them a paradoxical reaction (sounds like you with caffeine), and sometimes bodies are weird and just decide to react opposite today. Seems to be a bit more frequent in children. Overall, a pretty weird and poorly understood bit of pharmacology
Brains are pretty wild, we treat ADHD with stimulants because they basically give the brain the energy to properly prioritize all its thoughts and sensations. I've had it happen where I take literally amphetamine and get sleepy, because it stops me getting distracted from the sleepiness that was already there.
I just feel more tired from drinking them, dont know whats up with that
