also the goal Asano did to take the lead was something i am sure i saw in a captain tsubasa manga years ago germany is on a bad situation because they were already on a really rough group to be in with japan and spain and costa rica, which are all real teams, even though costa rica is the weak link here, they could get owned on the group phase if they don't win all next games, even a tie would be real risky
like i would guess japan will win against costa rica, so they just need to tie with spain, and if spain doesn't choke and lose to germany they are out, which would be their second time in a row leaving on the group phase
Costa Rica is at the end of a "golden generation" where they had some great teams, but because the same core of players has been eating up all the pitch time over the past decade they haven't developed much behind them.
