      With fighters many of them come from literally nothing. Jose grew up in a dirt poor favela without enough money to pay for a training, tournament fees or a gi. It was him and a couple of people who seen something in him that brought him his success despite the terrible hand life dealt. In his mind he does not owe anybody anything. This is a pretty normal story for fighters. Coming from nothing to having some success in life.

      I believe a lot of these athletes have a case of "fuck you, I got mine" more the a side effect of CTE. Even fighters with far less success and wealth then Aldo are acceptable to this.
