lets share cool stories we have had, this hobby is defined by such things. I'm sure we all have at least one.

I was running a dresden rpg one off. In the spirit of the system, I turned [local city] into an urban fantasy setting. The only local edm club was a white court vampire hangout, the local military academy had a ghoul infestation, our local badass unhomed person was featured except he beat up magical baddies in addition to being his IRL street chiropractor and anti SA batman figure (no shit, if this sounds familiar, you are in my city and know this is real).

There is also a nuclear power plant. After much investigation and being frustrated by a corrupt mayor who is totally nor based on somebody we all know, there was an epic showdown. The cadet ghouls were being manipulated as a proxy against the white court (who ended being a progressive force given that this is the south) by the red court, and there was a third party involving a catholic church figure who was pretending to be a knight of the cross "in setting the knights of the cross wield swords with one of the nails from the crucifixion in the metal of the sword". He was planning on causing a Chernobyl incident in order to cause despair that inspires people to "return to the faith". One of my players was a homebrew white court vampire who draws his psychic power from rage and revenge. He asked to use the emotions from another player who insisted on rolling to cross the street (and failed) which resulted in a memory of being splattered by mud from a passing car to inspire a called shot. It was the final showdown. It was 2 AM. He rolled a critical fail. Being a young a DM who just wanted to sleep off the hosts dad's booze we stole, this resulted in him missing and hitting a crucial mechanism which actually expedited the big bad evil guys plan by instigating a meltdown.

The story is brief and incomplete, but my only player with solid experience told me he had a good time and enjoyed the session. That compliment still makes me feel happy over a decade later. There is nothing that compares to running a game that the players enjoyed.

I hope this sets the tone and inspires others to share stories.
