In a surprise statement today, Kyle Brink announced that Wizards of the Coast will preserve the OGL 1.0a and move more of D&D into the Creative Commons.

One of the rare instances of a community backlash being so effective that it not only prevents the thing from getting worse but actually makes it better. RPG nerds, have you considered a communist revolution?

      Yes, but the OGL has a clause about waiving that right.

      So, by using Open Game Content and the OGL to publish a D&D-compatible product, you could only do so without claiming compatibility (although you can say things like d20-compatible or 5e-compatible.)
