Every time I hear this I bring up Kanye and ask if they think people should still buy his shit after "I like Hitler".

Once they establish that there is a point at which it is ok to start thinking that stuff is unacceptable you're just haggling for how unacceptable it needs to be. They then have to admit that they're ok with fucking over trans people but not ok with hitler, it forces self-reflection.
