    there's more to it than just disk space. imagine if another critical openssl vulnerability pops up. would you rather rely on one team of distro maintainers or 500 teams of projects, a big chunk of which may be dead? also, statically linking glibc is highly discouraged, so that's another major hurdle.

    I still think it would be ideal but yeah.
