    Vienna managed that by making it expensive for landlords to build and rent out stuff. So the state could sweep in and do build itself very cheap.

    You know who did it? Socialist governments (or at least social democratic ones).

        Unlike the socialist govts that built housing, the US govt isn't going to build public housing whether private developers can build or not. California hasn't turned LA into Vienna by denying building permits

        Would be cool if that changed. LA city council has been improving but I'm not that hopeful
