On the Switch there's at least a reason since you can take the joycons off individually and turn them into two mini gamepads. This is just some Chinese company trying to make their cheap knockoffs look like a popular thing.
Which is whatever but in this case it's making their actual products worse for no benefit. Would some grandma or kid leave this thing on the shelf if it looked slightly less like the Switch but played better? Then again, I guess they're all playing Genshin Fortnitecraft and don't give a rat's ass about dpads unlike grandpas who want to emulate games from the 90s.
It sucks since it looks like this is basically the current king of sub <30 dollar telescopic controllers and is actually usable (if yours doesn't come from the factory broken)
