Oakland A’s play-by-play announcer Glen Kuiper, who was originally suspended, has since been fired for his on-air “mistake.”

Absent any other evidence of racial animus, I honestly think the dude just flubbed his words. It only takes a few phonemes getting flipped around to go from "outdated term" to "the worst shit you could say on air." It's not like he said, "You know, back when I started commentating, there weren't a lot of n***--I mean, black commentators..." or something like that. THAT is one of those situations where it's obvious the word is in the person's vocabulary and no normal person would ever make that "mistake." See: PewDiePie on the bridge.

That all being said, I'm sure the final conversation went something like, "Look, Glen, we appreciate all that you've done over the years, but it'll be better for everyone if you just go spend more time with your grandkids so we can all move on from this." I guess it's also possible that the station turned up some dirt on the guy during their internal investigation, in which case, good riddance.

Anyway, I'll leave you all with (CW: homophobic slur) a baseball classic which left no room for doubt.
