It bolted a bit but the flowers are delicious, they taste like sweet mild broccoli. Looking forward to making stirfry tonight.

    Pretty much every green thing I planted this year bolted before it got big enough to eat, as it was already into the 80s for extended periods by May. Not cool. Your harvest looks good though! What is that,bokchoy?

      Bok choy ( xiǎobáicài) is a Chinese type of cabbage. It's got a fairly mild flavor and tender stem but the leaves are still strong enough to handle cooking. The whole plant except the root is edible.

      My favorite way to cook it is with garlic and hot peppers. But it's great steamed and in stir fries, even as a salad green.

        Very nice. I think I put in a few of these this spring, but the early drought and high temps have been hard on everything. I'll be happy if I get one that makes it to maturity. Love a little bok choy in a fancy ramen.
