The only thing they have realistically that is a threat at this point is a lot of nukes. Idk how far along China is on systems to defend against nukes but I have to imagine they are getting pretty far along with it.
They can speed up development by about 2 years if they realize that the secret to hypersonic missiles is to install the engine backwards. It worked for China and Russia, so they can just copy this design without needing to experiment with them first. Probably best if they don't waste time testing.
